Robin Hartfiel’s Inside Line - Husqvarna Dealer Meeting, X Games, Summer Recap
Aug 14th, 2009 by motonews
Robin Hartfiel discusses his latest adventure at the Husqvarna dealer meeting, Husqvarna product release, World Enduro, X-Games and X Games Adaptive Athletes.
Unquestionably the world’s biggest stage for extreme sports X Games 15 was the site for another Husqvarna triumph as 2008 S2 World Supermoto Champion Adrien Chareyre piloted a stock Husqvarna SM450 RR to the podium in Supermoto X competition.
Husqvarna has had an amazing three weeks… Adrien’s X Games 15 medal is the perfect exclamation point,” says Husqvarna Motorcycles North America National Sales & Marketing Manager Scot Harden. “First Antoine Meo won both World Enduro Championship rounds in Mexico City, then we had our national dealer meeting in conjunction with the Endurocross where our dealers had the opportunity to walk the track with Zip-Ty Racing’s Husqvarna team captain Ty Davis and now an X Games medal… This is a great opportunity to showcase two champions: Husqvarna’s SM450 RR and our 2-time World Champion Adrien Chareyre.”
Nicknamed “Le Chat” the likable Chareyre, 23, has been racing motorcycles since he was 4 years old, competing in the European and French National Motocross Championships until he was 15. He then switched to the Supermoto discipline back in 2001, starting on a little 50cc minibike and working his way up through bigger bikes to ultimately capture the World Championship in 2007 and 2008 (both titles aboard a Husqvarna). He also won the Italian S2 Supermoto title in 2008 for good measure.
The adaptive racers were the most inspirational part of X Games for me… having broken my back a couple of times, it could just as easily be me in a wheelchair or missing limbs. Plus these guys were going for it on the track! -Robin
